About the Artist
Sachie Hayashi is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist working with mixed media, paper, metals, and misaic. Her artwork explores the understanding of the conversations with nature, using collection of shapes from contour lines of inspired scenes that are defined by light, shadow, and awe of the moment’s emotion to recreate the liveliness of what she felt in the moment.
She received BFA at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and studied painting, sculpture, and printmaking at the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts in New York. She has exhibited in museums like Hammond Museum in New York, Pusan City Museum in Korea, Artist’s Museum in Texas, and Toyota Municipal Museum in Japan as well as numerous galleries in the United States and other countries, also has received many grants such as Harriet Whitney Frishmuth Award and Chaim Gross Prize, Newington-Cropsey Foundation travel grants to Italy. Her sculpture piece “Soul” is a permanent collection of Garden of Great Ideas in the sculpture garden of Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington D.C. She resides in the Bronx, New York.
